Belleville Police: No Saving Parking Spaces During Snow Storm
Read the Belleville Police Department's reminders about parking, shoveling and recycling as the town preps for a fourth nor'easter storm.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — As Belleville faces down forecasts of “heavy snow” from a fourth nor’easter, local officials are reminding residents about parking and shoveling regulations in the township during storms.
And no, you can’t save parking spaces that you dug out, Belleville authorities said.

On Tuesday, the Belleville Police Department reminded residents that placing objects in the street to reserve parking spaces is prohibited, as it can “hinder emergency services and the Department of Public Works.”

It’s an issue that has caused clashes among neighbors in the past, with many residents attempting to save shoveled spaces in front of their homes by blocking them with items such as garbage cans, furniture and traffic cones. Violators may be subject to a maximum fine of $2,000, according to the town code.

- “Due to the anticipated snowstorm, the Township is requiring all vehicles be moved from snow emergency streets by 6 a.m. on March 21, 2018 or be subjected to towing and/or ticketing.”
- “Recycling pick-ups for Wednesday 3/21/18 will begin at 3AM due to the anticipated storm.”
- “To help the Department of Public Works in clearing streets, Do not throw snow into the street or plow snow into the roadway. This will be strictly enforced.”
