Belleville Resident Turns 101, Honored For Military Service
Bernardino Colasurdo proudly served as a member of the armed forces during World War II.

BELLEVILLE, NJ -- A Belleville resident who recently celebrated his 101st birthday was honored with a township resolution thanking him for his military service.
The resolution honoring Bernardino Colasurdo reads:
"WHEREAS, more than 60 years ago a generation of Americans were summoned to serve the United States of America during World War II; and WHEREAS, Bernardino Colasurdo, a Belleville resident for 65 years, who celebrated his 101st birthday in August 2021 proudly served as a member of the armed forces during World War II and fought to defend our country; and WHEREAS, Bernardino, was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland, during basic training and went on to serve during World War II in Company B, 1' Battalion, 135th Infantry Regiment. While serving in the United States Army during World War II he saw combat in North Africa and Italy; and WHEREAS, we salute and pay tribute to the unwavering bravery of Bernardino Colasurdo as a member of the United States Army during World War II. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Municipal Council of the Township of Belleville do hereby honor and thank Bernardino Colasurdo for his service to our great country and wish him health and happiness now and in the future."
