Belleville Robbery Attempt Foiled When Female Victim Screams: Police

A robbery attempt was foiled on Magnolia Street in Belleville when the female victim began screaming, police say.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A robbery attempt was foiled in Belleville last week when the female victim began screaming, police say.

According to the Belleville Police Department, the incident took place around 9 a.m. on July 26 on Magnolia Street. The victim told officers that three heavy-set men in white t-shirts approached her and grabbed her from behind. The men then allegedly threw her to the ground and tried to steal her backpack.

At that time, the victim started screaming and the suspects fled the area, police said.
