In Belleville: Stolen Cars / Mercedes Burglary / Kmart Shoplifting

All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Burglary and Theft to Motor Vehicle – Wilson Place – The victim stated that he observed two males inside his motor vehicle with flashlights. The victim activated his alarm, at which time the males fled the area. The motor vehicle was a 2009 Mercedes. An investigation is open.

Shoplifting – K-Mart – Store security observed a female concealing merchandise in her purse and attempt to leave the store without paying. The suspect was stopped by security and held until police arrived, then charged with shoplifting. The value of the merchandise was $214.

9/7/2015

Criminal Mischief to Motor Vehicle – Howard Place – The victim stated that he parked his car on 9/6/2015 at around 3 p.m. Upon returning to his car the following evening, he observed the front window smashed and a rock on the floor. The motor vehicle was a 1999 Dodge Dakota. An investigation is open.

9/8/2015

Motor Vehicle Theft – K-Mart – The victim stated that he parked his car in the parking lot at around 4:30 p.m. Upon returning at about 4:45 p.m., he observed his car missing. Security footage showed that the car left the parking lot at a high rate of speed, south on Main Street. The vehicle was recovered in Newark later that day. Taken was a 2013 Honda Accord. An investigation is open.

9/10/2015

Shoplifting – K-Mart – Store security observed a female conceal $189 worth of baby and cleaning merchandise and attempt to leave the store without paying. The suspect was stopped by security and held until police arrived.

Criminal Mischief – The victim stated that she heard a loud noise and looked outside to observe a male without a shirt running away from her car. The windshield and mirror were smashed, she reported. The suspect was last seen fleeing through backyards in the area. Police located a juvenile suspect a short distance away from the home. An investigation is ongoing.
