“Anaemejeh, of Belleville, came to the United States from Nigeria in 2012. Her parents wanted the best education possible for their children. After high school, Choima was looking at Montclair State University, but opted for Essex because of the lower cost and with the knowledge that she would be able to transfer the credits to the four-year school.

“But with her Essex success (she has a 3.96 grade point average), Chioma is exploring options and is considering such transfer destinations as Cornell, the University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers University-Newark. Her career goal is to go to medical school and become a cardio-vascular surgeon.”

Anaemejeh received the good news while out shopping for the College's Student Government Association’s scholarship gala.

"When I received the email I just started yelling, I was so excited," the 18-year-old said, laughing.
