Belleville Tax Assessor is Interim Township Manager

Belleville's tax assessor, Kevin Esposito, was named the new interim township manager, according to township staffers.

He is replacing Victor Canning, the current township manager.

Canning's last day is March 15 and he will be the new administrator at Montville, A township employee also confirmed this information.

A call to Esposito's office was not returned Wednesday.

Canning is a Montville Township resident and serves there in the town's planning board and environmental commission.

Before moving to Montville, Canning lived in Belleville, where he served as a councilman and as mayor before becoming the township's manager. Canning is also a former Belleville Police Department officer.
