In Belleville: Two Armed Robberies In A Week
Belleville police are investigating gunpoint robberies on Franklin and Heckel streets.
Belleville police are investigating two separate armed robberies that took place in the township last week.
FRANKLIN STREET
On Tuesday, Aug. 18, a Franklin Street gas station employee reported that he was the victim of a gunpoint robbery around 9:22 p.m.

According to the victim, two men entered the gas station in an older-model, white Hyundai Sonata. At that time, the rear passenger exited the vehicle and allegedly pushed a gun into the victim’s ribs, telling him “give me your money or I will shoot you.”
The victim handed over $250 in cash, and the suspects then fled south on Belmont Avenue, police stated.

The victim described the driver as a “heavyset male,” and the passenger as a “thin black male” about six feet in height, with facial hair and a gray sweater.
HECKEL STREET
On Friday, Aug. 14, a Heckel Street resident told police that he was sitting on his porch, when a male dressed in all black and wearing a black, “ninja-style” mask and a black backpack approached him.
The suspect allegedly pointed a gun at the victim, telling him “What do you go and where is it?”
The victim then handed over his iPhone and a lighter before the suspect fled north on Heckel Street.
The investigation remains open, police stated.
