Belleville Youth Reports Attempted Abduction On Florence Avenue

A girl was walking to the school bus when a man allegedly asked her if she believed in God and grabbed her arm, police say.

Belleville police are investigating a possible abduction attempt involving a juvenile female and an unknown male suspect on Florence Avenue.

According to police, the girl reported that at 8:22 a.m. on Sept. 24, a black four-door vehicle approached her as she was walking to the bus stop.

The driver – a white, bald male wearing a tank top and jeans – allegedly asked the girl is she believed in God.

The victim told police that she didn’t answer and kept walking to the bus stop.

The suspect then pulled over, hopped to the passenger side of the car and grabbed the girl’s arm, she told police.

The juvenile told police that she then pulled away from the man and ran to the school bus, where she reported the incident.

An investigation is ongoing, police stated.
