Bicyclist, Teen Hit By Cars In Nutley: Police

Two people were hit by cars in Nutley in as many days, authorities said. Here's where the incidents happened.

NUTLEY, NJ — Two people were recently hit by cars in Nutley in as many days, authorities said.

The Nutley Police Department released the following statements about each incident:

Bicyclist Struck – (June 8) – Police responded to Bloomfield Avenue near intersection of Hawthorne. A motorist – claiming bushes obstructed their vision – struck a male bicyclist who was traveling south in the northbound lane. The bicyclist fell to the ground, then stood up, stating he was OK, and proceeded on his way. Police were unable to locate him, authorities said.

Juvenile Struck By Motor Vehicle (June 9) - Police responded to Centre Street after getting a report about a 13-year-old who was struck by a motor vehicle. Upon police arrival, the motorist had already left the scene and was later located in an area lot. The driver reported that while exiting a parking space, the juvenile ran in front of her car causing her to stop short. She asked if he was OK, he replied yes, and she left. She was issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report it. The juvenile suffered minor injuries, and his parent signed that they refused medical attention.
