Bloomfield Man Crashes His Benz Into Belleville Building: Police
Police arrested an Essex County man after arriving to find his Mercedes Benz "half-inside" a Joralemon Street building.
Belleville police arrested a Bloomfield man for DWI and assault by auto after arriving to find his Mercedes Benz “half-inside” a Joralemon Street building on Sept. 15.
According to police, police arrived at the scene around 2:44 a.m. to find two men climbing out of the rear of a Mercedes Benz CLA which had crashed into the building.
The driver – Joseph Bezares, 30 - allegedly told police that he was cut off by another vehicle, causing him to crash.

Officers allegedly detected a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” coming from Bezares, who was “unable to do” field sobriety tests.
Officer then arrested Bezares and charged him with DWI, assault by auto, failure to exhibit insurance, careless driving and DWI in a school zone.

Emergency responders treated the passenger of the vehicle at the scene. The passenger refused to go to the hospital, police stated.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
