Car Crashes Into Nutley House, Driver Taken To Hospital: Police

Nutley emergency responders found an 80-year-old woman entrapped in a Volkswagen. She was taken to the hospital, authorities said.

NUTLEY, NJ — A woman drove her car into a house on Bloomfield Avenue in Nutley on Thursday, police said.

The Nutley Police Department released the following statement about the crash:

“In the early afternoon, 911 dispatchers received several calls about an accident involving a vehicle driving into a house. Upon arrival, officers found an 80-year-old woman entrapped in a Volkswagen and observed damage to the gas meter. The first officer on scene was able to clear the immediate area and extract the driver from the vehicle. Nutley firefighters arrived and were able to turn the gas valve off, making the area safe. The driver was transported to the hospital.”

“It is believed the vehicle hit the front lawn of the neighboring home, which was a hill, that made the car airborne over the side driveway, and came to rest into the front of the neighboring home,” police said.
