Car Hits Father, Son Riding Bike In Nutley: Police

A car struck a father and son who were riding a bicycle in Nutley, authorities said.

NUTLEY, NJ — A car struck a father and son who were riding a bicycle in Nutley earlier this week, authorities announced Friday.

According to the Nutley Police Department, the incident took place on Wednesday near Passaic Avenue and Kingsland Street.

Police said a driver who was turning their car hit a 38-year-old father and his 8-year-old son, who were riding on the same bicycle together.

The father sustained minor bruises. The child was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and released.

Police issued the driver summonses that included careless driving and failure to yield. The bicycle riders were also cited for not wearing helmets, authorities said.
