Car Tires Slashed, Brake Lines Cut In Nutley: Police

Nutley Police: A local car owner said her tires were slashed. Meanwhile, another resident said his brakes failed while he was driving.

NUTLEY, NJ — A pair of suspicious, car-related incidents were recently reported in Nutley, police said Friday.

The Nutley Police Department released the following statements about each incident.

May 9 - (Criminal Mischief, Ernest Street) – “Police responded to Ernest Street when a caller reported that the tires on her 2020 Hyundai had been slashed.”

May 12 - (Suspicious Incident) – “A Nutley resident reported to police that while driving his 2017 Buick, the brakes failed a number of times. Lights on the dashboard [alerted him about] low brake fluid, and when checked by a mechanic, he was informed that the brake lines had been cut.”
