Crash In Belleville Sends Two Cops And Another Driver To Hospital
The officers were responding to a carjacking at the time; Both are now home and recovering.

A car crash sent two Belleville police officers and another driver to the hospital on Sunday evening.
The crash took place near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Mill Street around 8:15 p.m., as the officers were responding to a reported carjacking.
Emergency responders transported the officers to University Hospital in Newark, and the other driver to Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville.

Both officers and the civilian driver have been released from the hospital.
According to a police spokesman, neither officer suffered a serious injury.

As of Wednesday, police said that the cause of the crash is under investigation and declined to comment further, but stated that two witnesses have confirmed the officers’ account of events.
