The owner pulled the dog away and apologized. The juvenile then continued to school and notified school staff about the incident. After an evaluation by the school nurse, administrators contacted the student’s parents, who arrived at the school and took the juvenile to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment, authorities said.

Nutley police contacted the dog’s owner and confirmed that it had the necessary vaccines and licenses, authorities said.
