Double Stabbing In Essex County Claims Man’s Life: Police

A 28-year-old Irvington man died from his injuries. A 42-year-old woman was also stabbed, authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A 28-year-old Irvington man died in a double stabbing on Sunday, authorities said.

No arrests have been made as of Monday, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Irvington Police Department.

Prosecutors said two people were stabbed near the 100-block of 40th Street. One of the victims, Alfred Julio Fernandez, 28, of Irvington, was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 3:01 a.m.

The other victim, a 42-year-old woman, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The Irvington Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the stabbing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
