Driver Flees From Belleville Cops, Hits Teen On Bike: Report
A driver trying to escape police in Belleville struck a Newark teen on a bicycle, authorities said.
BELLEVILLE, NJ — A driver trying to escape police in Belleville struck a Newark teen on a bicycle Sunday, authorities said.
Belleville police said the incident started around 8 p.m. at Mill and Bridge streets. When officers attempted stop a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the driver – later identified as Christopher Roman, 27, of Newark – tried to flee the scene, NorthJersey.com reported.
Roman allegedly blew through a traffic light and hit the front wheel of the teen’s bicycle at Summer and Montclair avenues. He eventually stopped the car but fled the scene afterwards. The victim suffered minor scrapes on her knee, authorities told NorthJersey.com. (Read the full article here)
