Driver Pummeled In Belleville After Stopping To Ask Directions: Police

A man stopped at a traffic light in Belleville to ask for directions and ended up getting punched in the face and head, police say.

Belleville police reported that two men allegedly pummeled a motorist last week when he stopped at a traffic light to ask for directions.

According to police, the victim told officers that the alleged assault took place around 2 a.m. on Dec. 11, when he stopped at a traffic light on Union Avenue.

The motorist told police that after he got into an argument with the suspects after asking for directions. According to the victim, when he stepped out of his car, the two men began to punch him several times in the face and head, then got back in their vehicle and left the scene.

The victim described his alleged attackers as two large males in a silver Jeep.

Emergency responders transported the man to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, police said.
