Essex County Grandmother Found Dead In Home, Cops Investigate As Homicide

Adela Padilla, 76, was "loved by her neighbors," a report stated.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A 76-year-old grandmother living in Newark was discovered dead in her Summer Avenue home on Saturday. Police are investigating the case as a homicide, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police found Adela Padilla inside her home on the 500 block of Summer Avenue around 7 a.m. She was pronounced dead at 7:31 a.m., prosecutors said.

“The cause of death is pending autopsy but the death is being investigated as a homicide,” prosecutors stated Saturday.

No arrests have been made; an investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

Padilla, a local grandmother, was “loved by her neighbors,” ABC New York reported.
