Essex County Teen Heard Screams In Car Trunk; Man Inside: Report

"It's like I was just in a horror movie," a New Jersey teen reportedly told her mother. Police are searching for 2 accused carjackers.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police are searching for a pair of suspects who allegedly carjacked, kidnapped and robbed a Hillside man earlier this week. The victim was found in Irvington on Thursday morning, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

A 17-year-old teen walking her dog reportedly heard screams and knocking coming from the trunk of a car on Lindsley Avenue around 7:10 a.m. She alerted her mother, who called the police, NBC New York stated.

Cops arriving on the scene found a man tied up inside the trunk of the vehicle, NBC New York stated.

According to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, the initial carjacking took place at 7:30 p.m. on Avy Street in Hillside. Brandishing handguns, the two suspects then allegedly transported the victim to local banks in the area, where they ordered him to withdraw sums of cash.
