Essex Film Club Turns 80: Celebration Planned At Nutley Library

The Essex Film Club will celebrate its 80th anniversary during an event at the Nutley Public Library.

NUTLEY, NJ — The Essex Film Club will celebrate its 80th anniversary during an event at the Nutley Public Library at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24.

According to a library news release, Nutley Town Historian John Demmer will lead a slide show history of Bob Lee, founder and noted film restorer and film historian, and the Essex Film Club, which ran for 44 years in the rear of Lee’s Harrison Street home.

Several nostalgic film shorts will also be screened featuring a cartoon, a PATHE newsreel on Nutley and a thrilling silent movie. Free popcorn will be available and all candy proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Nutley Public Library.
