YES! In My Back Yard

Location: Cherry Blossom Visitors Center, Extension

YES! In My Backyard is a one-of-a-kind lecture that will inform participants about environmental and social justice issues in real-time using Branch Brook Park as a local example. Presenter Neil Maher, NJIT Professor, will discuss the emergence of the urban park movement in the United States and the importance of Frederick Law Olmsted and Essex County Branch Brook Park. Participants will see how a place like Branch Brook Park connects contemporary concerns about the environment with the environmental reformers of the past when industrial growth first threatened American identity and public health.

This event is made possible with the support of our community partners.
