Ex-Belleville Assistant Principal Joins Essex College Trustee Board

Carmen Morales was sworn-in to a term that will run through 2020, Essex County College officials say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A former Belleville assistant principal has been appointed to the Board of Trustees at Essex County College, administrators announced Wednesday.

Carmen T. Morales, vice principal at the Newark Tech Campus of the Essex County Vocational Technical Schools, was sworn-in as a college trustee on June 20. Morales previously served as an elementary school assistant principal in the Belleville school district.

Her term runs through October 31, 2020, according to Essex County College administrators.

Morales was nominated to the trustee post by Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr.

"I am honored to serve on the Essex County College Board of Trustees,” Morales said. “With my extensive experience in education and serving as an administrator at Essex County Newark Tech High School, I want to be able to bridge the gap between high school and college. I am excited about the new leadership at Essex County College and look forward to working with the board to enhance the reputation of this institution.”

Morales earned her undergraduate degree from Montclair State University and a Master’s in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She also earned an Ed.S. in the Educational Specialist in Education Leadership Management and Policy program from Seton Hall University.
