Fake Utility Bills Generated In Nutley Resident’s Name: Police

All of the accounts had Texas addresses, Nutley police said.

NUTLEY, NJ — A Nutley resident reported that multiple fake utility bills were recently generated in their name, authorities announced Friday.

According to the Nutley Police Department, the fraud was reported on Sept. 29. Police released the following statement about the incident:

“The victim reported fraudulent utility bills under their name on their credit report. All accounts had Texas addresses, were generated in February, March, and May of this year, and one was already in collections. The credit bureaus were advised, and all the fraudulent accounts are pending to be removed. The victim registered with the Identity Theft Victim Database.”
