Fraud, Identity Theft In Nutley: Police Report Latest Cases

Recent fraud cases include unauthorized loans, phony bank charges and missing money, Nutley police said.

NUTLEY, NJ — Multiple cases of fraud were recently reported in Nutley, police say.

The Nutley Police Department released the following details about three recent fraud and identity theft cases in the township:

June 10 (Wilmington Drive) – “A victim of Identity Theft contacted police to report the incident. They stated while checking their bank account, they noticed two unauthorized loans had been opened in their name. They advised they had contacted their bank, the loan company, and had changed all the passwords on their banking accounts. They were offered the opportunity to be entered as an Identity Theft Victim Database.”

June 10 (Cathedral Avenue) – “A victim of fraud responded to headquarters to report the incident. They stated they observed fraudulent charges on their bank account and contacted their bank. Their card was canceled, and they advised none of their other accounts were compromised.”

June 11 (Chestnut Street) – “A victim of fraud responded to headquarters to report the incident. They stated upon viewing their financial accounts, they observed money missing. They stated they had contacted their financial institution and they stated it was due to a loan. The victim advised that they did not apply for a loan, and they were offered the opportunity to be entered as an Identity Theft Victim, which they stated they wished to do so.”
