Free Menstrual Health Toolkit Launches to Help Teachers, Parents
The Flow Initiative's new resources are specifically designed to equip educators, parents, school nurses, and guidance counselors

As leaders in the fight against period poverty, The Flow Initiative proudly announces the release of a free, comprehensive toolkit and fact sheet designed to support the effective implementation of New Jersey's groundbreaking Bill A1349. Set to take effect this September, the legislation mandates the provision of free menstrual health products in public schools across the state, a crucial step toward menstrual equity.
To support the effective implementation of Bill A1349, The Flow Initiative has created a comprehensive toolkit and fact sheet. These resources are designed to educate and empower the key stakeholders who interact with students on a daily basis. The target audience for these resources includes teachers, educators, parents, school nurses, and guidance counselors. The Flow Initiative believes these are the individuals who can make the most immediate and lasting impact in ensuring that the bill is implemented effectively.
Eiko La Boria, Founder & CEO of The Flow Initiative, underscored the organization's leadership role in the menstrual health movement: "At The Flow Initiative, we are not just advocates; we are trailblazers in the fight for menstrual equity. Bill A1349 is a monumental victory, but it is only the beginning. The successful implementation of this bill is paramount, and our free toolkit and fact sheet are critical resources that will empower schools to deliver on the promise of menstrual health for all students. We are committed to ensuring that every student in New Jersey has access to the products they need, free from stigma and without barriers."
Sabrina Browne, Partner at The Flow Initiative, highlighted the essential role of school communities in this effort: "We recognize that educators, parents, and guidance counselors are at the heart of this movement. These are the individuals who can make a real difference in students' lives. Our resources are designed to support them in creating safe, inclusive environments where menstrual health is normalized and supported. By providing the right tools and education, we can ensure that the provisions of Bill A1349 are not just enacted, but truly embraced in every classroom and home."
Period poverty remains a pressing issue, with studies showing that one in five students in the United States misses school due to a lack of access to menstrual products. In New Jersey alone, thousands of students face this barrier, which can impact their education and lead to absenteeism. The Flow Initiative’s new resources are specifically designed to equip educators, parents, school nurses, and guidance counselors with the knowledge they need to help secure free menstrual health products for their schools.
As the 2024-2025 school year begins, The Flow Initiative calls on all New Jersey public schools to leverage the toolkit and fact sheet to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their menstrual health needs.
