The sixth grade students of School No. 5 hit the gym of School No. 3 last Friday night in a fundraiser for a parent who is ill.
The students got to play basketball against their teachers and other school staff, including principal Gabe Nazziola.
The game was held as a fundraiser to help Christie Esposito, who was diagnosed with cancer last year.

Esposito is actively fighting the disease, but her family is fighting to pay her growing medical expenses, which have been more than the family can handle. Since some of the treatments being done in Philadelphia are experimental and therefore are not covered by insurance.
Esposito, who is an active school PTA member, is kindly thought of by other school parents, who noted her caring and supportive nature, which according to them was evident even until recently. When they held a fundraiser in February for another cause, Esposito made it a point to help out despite her health condition. She even donated an old bicycle to the fundraiser.

Friday’s event was well attended and the school raised $350. Esposito’s husband and children were there as well. However, she was unable to attend because she was hospitalized.
The PTA is still accepting donations for Christie Esposito. If you wish to make donations, please contact Carmen Vellon at (201) 679-4680.
