Belleville Cops Find 28 Pounds Of Packaged Marijuana
A Belleville man was arrested after allegedly picking up packages containing the cannabis stash outside the home, police say.
Belleville, NJ – Police arrested a Belleville man after he allegedly picked up packages containing about 28 pounds of marijuana from a High Street home on Wednesday.
According to the Belleville Police Department, officers received a tip about “suspicious packages” being delivered to the home around 2:24 p.m.
Police officers conducting surveillance of the property allegedly saw Philip Peterson, 34, of Belleville, pick up the packages and walk away from the house.

At that point, officers stopped Peterson and discovered around 28 pounds of marijuana inside the packages.
The marijuana has a street value of $40,000, police stated.

Authorities charged Peterson with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school zone.
