This Home in Nutley was built in 1885, never publicly listed on the market, Realty Executives Elite Homes is the Exclusive Brokerage for the Ruth Bedford Estate.

Mrs. Bedford and her husband Stanley purchased the home from her Aunt (Blum) in 1967, Mrs Bedfords father was a builder in the town of Nutley and was the very first Mayor of Nutley
NJ in 1912. This home was basically the center of high society back in the day even before Mrs Bedford purchased the home.

Celebrities and Nutley notables used to congregate at the home, people like Annie Oakley herself is said to have been at the home on several occasions as well as other influential people from the area.

Mrs. Bedford kept that tradition of hosting events and functions at the home in later years as well, she was the personal secretary for W. T Grant for almost 60 years and headed up many philanthropic endeavors in and around town.

232 Highfield Lane was in an area of town that was located near the former Satterwaite estate which used to be located between Passaic Ave & Nutley Ave. The Blum Family used to own
a large home on the former estate as well as the carriage house at 400 Passiac ave we just sold, that used to be the carriage house to the Satterwaite estate, and Mrs Bedford recalled playing in that carriage house when she was a child.

Interestingly enough across Passaic ave down the rd from the Bedford estate was an area called Enclosure that was once an Artist colony, and on the corner is another home we hadthe pleasure to sell 5 Enclosure, Built in 1850 the home was built by Erik Von Strom an immigrant from Sweden who settled in Nutley and married the daughter of Satterwaite, these 3 homes all have a connection back to the Bedford estate.
