Homeless Accused Burglar Arrested For Making Fires In Nutley: PD
The man said he made the fires to keep warm. He's been accused of four local burglaries, Nutley police said.

NUTLEY, NJ —Nutley police arrested a homeless man who has been accused of several local burglaries after he ignored their request to stop making fires on private property, authorities said.
Police in Nutley previously arrested Dylan Waehner-Larson, 29, of Minnesota, and accused him of committing four burglaries in town. He was arrested twice – once on Jan. 5 and again on Jan. 15 – and charged with two counts of burglary each time.
Waehner-Larson was taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark after both arrests, police said. Read More: Minnesota Man Accused Of 4 Burglaries In Nutley

On March 1, Nutley police arrested Waehner-Larson again, but this time for a different reason: lighting fires, authorities said.

- River Road – “Patrol units were directed to the Van Riper House on a report of a fire. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male who was lying near the driveway in the grass. There was an active fire, several logs burning, without a fire pit to contain it. The party stated they were homeless and started the fire to stay warm. He was advised that the area was not open to the public and a fire could not be started. [The Nutley Fire Department] responded to the scene and put out the fire. The property was checked and found to be in order. The male party was advised to leave the property and not return. The key holder was advised of the incident.”
- River Road – “Officers observed an open burning log fire in the middle of a pathway surrounded by dried vegetation, with a male party nearby. The male party was recognized as Dylan Waehner-Larson, 29, homeless, who was involved in the same type of activity the night before and given a verbal warning not to return. This area was fenced in on all four sides and there was a sign that read ‘Private Property No Trespassing.’ Waehner-Larson was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. He was charged with defiant trespassing and disorderly conduct/improper behavior, which were placed on summons. Waehner-Larson was released with his court date and advised not to return to the property.”
