Homeless Man Assaulted Outside Liquor Store: Nutley Police (Updated)

The 32-year-old told police that a juvenile punched him, knocked him down, and started kicking him outside a store on Franklin Avenue.

NUTLEY, NJ — A man experiencing homelessness was assaulted outside a liquor store in Nutley earlier this month, police said.

According to the Nutley Police Department, the incident took place south of Centre Street near a liquor store on Franklin Avenue on July 15.

The victim, a 32-year-old man, told police that a juvenile male in a t-shirt and shorts pushed and punched him after the two exchanged words. When he fell to the ground, the juvenile started kicking him, then fled east on Centre Street.

"Police stopped several individuals shortly after, including a juvenile, however the victim’s description was inconsistent with the party stopped," a Nutley police spokesperson said Monday. "There has not been any suspect identified as the actor and no charges at this time."
