Once Again, Colon is King

Justin Colon outlasted West Essex's Mike Marotti in the 126-pound bracket of the Essex County Tournament, 3-1, on Saturday at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange. Colon earned a takedown in sudden-death overtime to clinch his second consecutive county championship and 145th career victory.

Joe Anello was the only other Buccaneer to reach the county finals, though he fell to Simon Levin of Millburn in the 160-pound championship bout. Rocco Genova (106), Ricky Gencarelli (120) and Daniel Giangrande (195) all reached the semifinals. Giangrande placed third, helping the Bucs (118 points) take sixth in the team race. Nutley was the tournament's team winner.
