Large 'Sweet 16' Party In Belleville Ends With Fights, Arrest: Police
A party at an event hall in Belleville drew police from several towns after a fight broke out between a group of teens, authorities said.
BELLEVILLE, NJ — A large “sweet 16” party at an event hall in Belleville last weekend drew police from several towns to the scene after a fight broke out, authorities said.
According to the Belleville Police Department, officers responded to the La Maison event hall at 33 Washington Avenue at 11:15 p.m. after getting a report about a large party in the area.
While officers were dispersing a crowd of juveniles, several of them started to fight with each other, police said.

Three Belleville officers sustained minor injuries while trying to break up the fights, authorities said.
Police from multiple nearby towns responded to the scene to help break up the crowd, Belleville authorities said.

Police took a 15-year-old male juvenile into custody. He was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and released to his guardian, pending a court date, authorities said.
Belleville police continue to investigate the incident, authorities said Monday.
