Local Charity Puts on Musical to Benefit 6 year old girl with Cerebral Palsy

The Charles Seller Foundation is proud to announce this year's production of Legally Blonde the Musical!

In 1950, a young man named Charles Seller was struck by a train losing one of his legs. His family and friends came together to put on a variety show named Talent Time to aid in his medical costs. This started a tradition in Bloomfield, NJ, that has lasted for more than 60 years. Each summer our members, who are in their mid teens to early thirties, produce and perform a musical in which all profits go towards someone in the area with high medical bills. This year The Charles Seller Foundation’s Talent Time Players presents Legally Blonde: the Musical!

A fabulously fun international award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside-down, however, when her boyfriend dumps her so he can start getting serious about his life and attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle uses her charm to get into Harvard Law. At school, she struggles with peers, professors, and Warner Huntington. With the help of Paulette and Emmett, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.

This year’s production will be benefiting 6 year old, Adriana Torres who suffers from cerebral palsy. Adriana is a 6 year old twin girl, who suffered before birth due to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. This caused multiple medical complications for her from the moment she was born. She was kept in the hospital from birth until she reached 3 months. However, when her family was finally able to bring her home, they realized there was something wrong. Adriana’s muscles were very tense and her mobility seemed off in comparison to her twin sister. At just 5 ½ months old, Adriana was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. From that day forward, Adriana has received physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy in order to help her progress. She has come a long way—this little girl who was not able to sit, eat or crawl by herself can now crawl, sit and stand with assistance! However, she still has a long way to go. Adriana wears braces on her legs, uses a walker, and gets Botox injections in order to help her muscles relax. Adriana’s family is raising money in order to afford a chord blood transfusion for her, which has been known to cure Cerebral Palsy. Their goal is for their daughter is to be able to run and play with her siblings one day. Please help the Charles Seller Foundation support this strong little girl and her amazing family in their goal to see their daughter be able to walk on her own!
