Joseph Petrillo, Belleville High School’s longtime principal, submitted a letter of retirement yesterday afternoon, Superintendent of Schools Joseph Picardo confirmed today.
Picardo declined to provide further information, citing confidentiality rules regarding personnel matters.
Staff were notified of Petrillo's decision during meetings today, a number of sources said.
There will be a special meeting of the Board of Education this Friday, May 6 at 7:45 am at the conference room of the high school, 100 Passaic Ave. Picardo said only that the meeting will involve personnel issues and that a vote may be taken.
