Members of the Nutley Volunteer Emergency and Rescue Squad resuscitated a man when he collapsed after a 30-mile bike ride.
NUTLEY, NJ — Members of the Nutley Volunteer Emergency and Rescue Squad (NVERS) resuscitated a man when he collapsed after a 30-mile bike ride last weekend, authorities said.
The NVERS released details about the incident via social media on Sunday:
“Just after 11 a.m. today, NVERS ambulance 42 with EMT’s Melissa Perez and Frank Angello accompanied by Captain Pesci in Rescue 45 responded to a potential unresponsive male. Family on scene stated he went for a 30-mile bike ride and when he returned home, he was complaining of chest pain prior to collapsing and becoming unresponsive. EMTs Andrzej Kalata and Ana Gonzalez after clearing a 911 assisted our members shortly after. After 12 minutes of CPR, NVERS obtained pulses back that lead to the return of cardiac and respiratory function. Patient was transported to Clara Maass Medical Center. Thank you to our brothers from Nutley Fire Department and Nutley Police Department for assisting us.”
