Man Killed, Boy Hospitalized In Belleville Shooting: Prosecutor

The child was transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition, officials said.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A man was killed and a boy injured in a shooting Saturday in Belleville, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office (ECPO).

Francis Medina, 37, of Bellville, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The boy, 4, was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition as of Saturday night.

Police responded at about 2 p.m. to the reported shooting on the 100 block of Mill Street. Medina was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the ECPO said.

Medina was taken to Clara Maass Medical Center and pronounced dead at 3:17 p.m.
