Man ‘Screaming’ In Nutley Park Was Just Heavy Metal Fan: Police

NUTLEY, NJ — The fine line between screaming and “music” was on display during a recent police incident in Nutley.

On Oct. 17, Nutley police officers responded to Kingsland Park after receiving a report about a man “screaming” in the area for two hours and counting. On arrival, the officers encountered the source of the yelling: a homeless man listening to heavy metal music.

The man – who said he’d just moved to New Jersey from California and was “just passing along” – told officers that he was only singing to the music. He apologized for being loud, gathered his belongings and left the park.
