A man shot and killed himself outside of a New Jersey elementary school, according to authorities.

A man shot and killed himself this week outside of a New Jersey elementary school, according to authorities.
The victim, believed to be in his 50s, was found dead at about 6 a.m. on Wednesday outside the St. Aloysius Elementary Academy in North Jersey, according to nj.com. The shooting happened on the Kensington Avenue side of the building.
Classes resumed at the Jersey City school even as several investigators, including the state's Northern Regional Medical Examiner, remained outside the building for several hours, according to the report. The school has pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students.

The victim's body was found alongside a gate in front of two doors, and a medical examiner's white tent was erected outside the doors, according to the report.
The students were scheduled to attend Ash Wednesday services at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius church. It's not clear how the school directly dealt with the issue.
