NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police say that a dating profile with the name “Hank Arnold” may be a fraud.
According to the Nutley Police Department, officers received a walk-in report about an alleged case of fraud that originated via Match.com on Sept. 19. The victim told police that they “became friendly” with a person named Hank Arnold on the dating website. They communicated through text messages and phone calls, but never met in person.
Eventually, the man told the victim that they were in Malaysia and needed $9,700 in order to retrieve unknown documents. He told the victim to deposit the money in a specific account. When the victim did as they were told, Hank Arnold blocked their cell phone number, authorities said.
