Men Try To Dupe FedEx Driver Out Of Package In Nutley: Police
"This is a common scam, where a party uses a stolen card to purchase large-ticket items and intercept delivery to an unsuspecting address."
NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police recently escorted a FedEx driver to make a delivery at a local home after two men apparently tried to dupe him out of a package, authorities said Friday.
The Nutley Police Department released the following statement about the “suspicious incident,” which took place on Wednesday:
“A FedEx employee reported to police that while making deliveries along Franklin Avenue, he was approached by two males in their 20’s, inquiring if he had a cell phone delivery for Chestnut Street. They requested that he give them the package now. When the delivery person was actually delivering to Chestnut Street, police accompanied him.”
“This is a common scam where a party uses a stolen credit card to purchase large ticket items, and intercept delivery to an unsuspecting address,” Nutley police added.
