Missing Nutley Woman Found Dead On Apartment Building Rooftop
The woman's death doesn't appear to be suspicious, Nutley police said.
NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police found a missing, 74-year-old woman dead on the rooftop of an apartment building on Monday. The woman’s death doesn’t appear to be suspicious, authorities said.
According to the Nutley Police Department, officers responded to a building on Williams Street at 6:57 p.m. to investigate the whereabouts of a missing resident. Police searched the apartment and building, finding the woman “unresponsive” on the roof of the building. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s daughter had reported her mother missing after not hearing from her for a couple of days, police said.

Police Chief Thomas Strumolo said the incident doesn’t appear to be suspicious at this time. However, authorities are still awaiting a determination from the medical examiner about the cause of the woman’s death, he added.
Nutley Police Director Alphonse Petracco extended his condolences to her family.

“It is very sad to see our loved ones pass away – even sadder to learn she may have inadvertently wandered on the roof in this cold weather,” he said.
