BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville police arrested an 18-year-old motorcyclist after he allegedly took a high-speed ride through the parking lot of a local ShopRite, tried to shake pursuing officers and crashed into a parked car last month.

According to the Belleville Police Department, an officer patrolling Washington Avenue around 11:26 a.m. on July 16 saw a male riding a motorcycle with no license plates “at a high rate of speed” through the grocery store’s parking lot.

When officers tried to pull him over, the rider – later identified as Alqamah Muhammad, 18, of East Orange – allegedly attempted to flee by speeding between a car and a shopping cart stall, authorities said.
