There will be photo shows presented by many NJMFPA members, whose work has graced the pages of The Herald News, The Record, Star Ledger, 1st Responder Newspaper, Firehouse, Fire Engineering, Fire Chief and many other national magazines for years. In the 30 years of its existence, the NJMFPA has grown from an original membership of twelve, to a present count of over ONE HUNDRED members and growing. The membership includes volunteer and career firefighters, police officers, dispatchers, fire service magazine staff writers, and fire buffs, all with the same common interest of fire photography.
This years’ show will include narrative and musical photo/video compilations of members from around the area. There will be feature presentations from the collections of two legends of the fire service, FDNY Dispatcher 120, Warren Fuchs, and Lt. Bob Pressler. Warren Fuchs spent over 30 years as a dispatcher in the Brooklyn dispatch, well-known as “the Voice of Brooklyn” for his calm and commanding presence on the radio. He is the author of “Where the Fire Is”, a photographic collection, and spent his off-duty time chasing fires. Lt. Bob Pressler has over 40 years of service to fire departments, including the FDNY and other NY departments. He is a renowned instructor, serves on training advisory boards, and published several training books. Both now retired, they will look back on their storied careers in the fire service, and present photographs and tales from the “war years of the FDNY” and the fire service in general.
The event will begin at 5:00 PM. Apparatus will be on display to be photographed at an off-site location outside starting at 3:00PM. The show starts promptly at 6:00PM. Admission is $10.00, with children under 12 admitted free.
The Knights of Columbus Hall is located at 106 Bergen Avenue, Ridgefield Park, NJ. For more information call (201) 308-FIRE or go to http://www.njmfpa.org
