New Jersey’s ‘Tan Mom’ May Sue School For Daughter’s Sunburn: Report
New Jersey's infamous "Tan Mom," Patricia Krentcil, may sue the school district that first reported her to police, a report says.

NUTLEY, NJ — New Jersey’s infamous “Tan Mom,” Patricia Krentcil, says that she’s made a good hunk of change off the accusations that she endangered her then-5-year-old child by bringing her along to mother-daughter tanning salon sessions.
There were paid talk show appearances with Dr. Drew and Howard Stern. There was a clothed, 2013 adult film appearance in “Kings of New York 2.” And of course, there was her hip-hop single that dropped the same year, “It’s Tan Mom.”
Now Krentcil – who says she never let her daughter actually get into a tanning bed and denies any allegations of endangerment – may be preparing to turn the tables on the school district that initially reported her to authorities.

Krentcil, a Nutley resident, told the New York Post that her lawyer is considering a case against the Nutley Public School District, alleging neglect after her daughter returned from recess with a sunburn even though she packed suntan lotion.
“After what they did to me, they didn’t put lotion on her?” Krentcil rhetorically asked, adding that it was a nurse at Lincoln Elementary School in Nutley who first called police on her back in 2012 after learning about the alleged tanning salon trips with her daughter.

“This time, I’m going after them,” she told The Post.
An Essex County grand jury declined to indict Krentcil on child endangerment charges in 2013.
The case started in April 17, 2012, when school officials noticed burns on the young girl’s leg and reported the injuries to authorities. Following an investigation, Krentcil was arrested on April 24, 2012.
Under New Jersey law, children under 14 years old are banned from using tanning salons.

According to NBC, the father said it was a misunderstanding. Krentcil's daughter told her classmates she goes tanning with her mom. He thinks a teacher overheard, connecting the daughter's sunburn and called the police.
