NJ Devils Hat Prompts Deadly Stabbing: Police
An argument over a NJ Devils hat turned deadly in Philadelphia's posh Rittenhouse Square Sunday morning.

An argument over hockey teams prompted a fatal stabbing in Philadelphia's posh Rittenhouse Square neighborhood early Sunday, according to police.
Police say a 40-year-old man wearing a New Jersey Devils cap got into an altercation with a 24-year-old Bucks County native over the hat. The argument tuned physical and ended in a stabbing, killing Colin McGovern of Churchville, Pa.
Steven E. Simminger, 40, of Media ,Pa. has been charged with murder and related offenses.

McGovern was out with friends when Simminger approached them shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, police said. The group began fighting over hockey teams, which was sparked by the New Jersey Devils hat Simminger was wearing, according to Philadelphia Police.
When police arrived, McGovern was laying on street with multiple stab wounds to the torso. He was transported to Hahnemann Hospital, where he was pronounced at 3:36 a.m.

McGovern is a 2009 Council Rock South graduate, according to his Facebook profile. He was currently living in Philadelphia, according to his profile.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Simminger is a disabled veteran with a history of DUI arrests.
