NJ Senior Citizen Accused Of Condom Shoplifting Had 100 Aliases: Nutley Police

An Essex County senior accused of shoplifting 22 boxes of Trojan condoms had more than 100 aliases, Nutley police say.

Nutley, NJ - Police reported that an Essex County senior accused of shoplifting 22 boxes of Trojan condoms had more than 100 aliases and 60 social security numbers when arrested last week.

Nutley police first reported the alleged shoplifting earlier this month. According to authorities, a Harrison Street business told police that on Dec. 9, an elderly man allegedly stole around two dozen boxes of condoms valued at $395.

The victim reported that the suspect wore a black hat, black overcoat and light-colored pants, walked with a limp and used a cane, police said.

While on patrol on Dec. 14, Nutley police officers saw a man who allegedly matched the suspect’s description in the area of the alleged theft.

The officers checked with the manager of the Harrison Street business, who confirmed that the man – later identified as Harry Jackson, 56, of Irvington – was the same person who allegedly shoplifted the condoms.

When the officers stopped Jackson for an interview, they found that he had two active warrants out of West Orange. After arresting Jackson and transporting him to police headquarters, officers found that he also had two outstanding warrants from Millburn that were reportedly under an alias.

Jackson reportedly had 100 additional aliases and 60 social security numbers that needed to be checked, police stated.

Several of the aliases also had warrants issued in their names, police stated.

Police are investigating the possibility that Jackson is responsible for thefts committed in “many other jurisdictions,” according to a release.

Authorities charged Jackson with shoplifting. His bail was set at $2,500 with a 10 percent option.
