Nominations Now Being Accepted for Nutley Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations for the next Hall of Fame which will be held in the fall of 2013, Mayor Alphonse Petracco said.

The Hall of Fame recognizes those individuals who “through significant personal achievement have distinguished themselves on a statewide, national or international level and have made their association with Nutley a source of pride for the community,” Petracco said in an official statement.

To be eligible, the nominee must have been born in Nutley, graduated from Nutley High School, or have been a resident of the town for at least 10 years.

The Hall of Fame Administrative Committee will review applications to assure that they meet the criteria and will then forward to the panel of judges. 

Nomination forms are available at Town Hall on Chestnut Street,  the Nutley Public Library on Booth Drive, the Parks and Recreation Building at 44 Park Ave., and on the Hall of Fame website.

Nominations can also be done by sending one-page summaries to the Director’s Office, Nutley Library, 93 Booth Dr., Nutley, in care of the Hall of Fame Committee.

The deadline for nominations is this April 30, officials said.

The fifth bi-annual Hall of Fame induction in November 2011 honored nine people, including Nutley High School graduate and United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg, and Angela Christiano, an associate professor of Molecular Dermatology at Columbia University who identified a new gene for human baldness.

The others were Cathleen Benko, Larry "Drums" Bancaccio, Tina Cervasio, Lloyd Goodrich, Linda Stamato, Earl Reeder and Al Welenofsky.
