Detectives are working with the Secret Service to investigate the fund diversion, Nutley police said.

NUTLEY, NJ — A $250,000 wire transfer was “hacked” and diverted out-of-state, a Nutley business owner reported earlier this week, police said.

The Nutley Police Department provided the following statement about the incident, which was reported on April 8:

“The manager of a local company stated they sent a wire transfer for quarter of million dollars that was ‘hacked.’ The funds were diverted into an account out of Seattle, WA. The victim contacted both fraud departments for the company bank and the bank the funds were diverted to. Police detectives are working with [the] Secret Service.”
