Nutley Car Owners Report 4 Burglaries In 1 Day: Hazel and Linden

Nutley residents reported four separate car burglaries and break-ins on Hazel Terrace and Linden Place in one day, police say.

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley residents reported four separate car burglaries and break-ins on Hazel Terrace and Linden Place in one day last month, police say.

According to the Nutley Police Department, the following incidents were reported on Oct. 26:

  • Theft from Vehicle – Hazel Terrace – The victim walked into headquarters to report that they noticed items stolen from their Toyota Rav4 that was parked in their driveway overnight. The following items were reported missing: $25 in small bills and loose change, a $40 pair of earrings, a $30 dollar coat and about $30 worth of cellphone chargers. The victim was not sure if the vehicle was locked but did not observe any indications of forced entry. They were advised to contact headquarters should they notice anything else missing from their vehicle.
  • Theft from Vehicle – Hazel Terrace – Headquarters received a walk-in report regarding a theft from vehicle. The victim told officers that when they went out to their car this morning they noticed it had been rummaged through. They found the glove compartment open, center console open, and sun glass compartment as well. Nothing seemed to be taken from the vehicle and the victim put back all of the items found out of place and then drove the vehicle to headquarters. The Detective Bureau was advised. No further action was taken.
  • Theft from Vehicle – Linden Place – A resident reported finding their passenger door slightly ajar and the glove box/armrest open. Their belongings were also thrown throughout the vehicle. Nothing was found to be taken. The victim does not believe that the doors to the car were locked and there was no sign of forced entry.
  • Theft from Vehicle – Linden Place – Two vehicles at the same residence were found to have been entered and items were found missing. Neither car had been secured during the night and both glove boxes were found open and belongings in both cars were scattered about. One vehicle had quarters/change taken and the other vehicle had two packs of socks and a pair of headphones missing. There was no sign of forced entry to either car. Both parties were advised to contact headquarters should any other items found to be missing. The Detective Bureau was notified.
